Andrija Puharich, "Bucky", and the United Nations?

In 1980, Dr. Andrija Puharich sent a mysterious package of papers to two remarkable figures: Buckminster Fuller and Rudolf Stajduhar. “Bucky,” of course, was the visionary architect and futurist best known for inventing the geodesic dome. Stajduhar, meanwhile, served as Director of OPI Press and Publications at the United Nations and was also a spokesperson for the U.N.’s Emergency Force during the 1970s and early 1980s.

At first glance, these three men seem to have little in common. So why were they corresponding - and what was so important that Puharich felt compelled to send them these documents? Let’s find out.

An interesting find in the Puharich archives reveals a correspondence between himself, Bucky Fuller, and Rudolf Stajduhar. In one letter, “Rudi”, who at that time would have been the communications director for the United Nations, writes Bucky saying that he is sending him materials from their “good friend” Puharich - and that he hopes Bucky has received a “a direct communication from him” (Puharich).

There is then a letter from Puharich to Rudi starting that he has sent “two rough drafts of ideas toward developing individuality, and exalting the individuals role on this planet.” He asks that Rudi forward these materials to Bucky. He also mentions that he is writing Bucky “under separate cover.”

The papers Puharich sends to both Bucky and Rudi are quite interesting indeed… the first page reads as follows:

Here, he quotes Bucky himself, The Club of Rome, and the United Nations. The Club of Rome is “an international think tank and advocacy group founded in 1968. Composed of scientists, economists, and business leaders, it is famous for its 1972 report, The Limits to Growth. The organization champions long-term, systemic solutions to global crises like climate change and economic inequality.”

This paper goes on to highlight Puharich’s goal “to teach man how to rediscover this basic connectedness between all men and with all of nature in order to bring into existence a new level of consciousness for humanity.”

He then includes a second paper titled “Overview of the New Science of Extending Human Capacities”, which outlines his extensive research into consciousness and psychic phenomena.

It’s fascinating to wonder what these three men could have been planning during this time.
